Background

The Coimbra Neuropsychological Assessment Battery (BANC; Simões et al., 2008) was developed specifically for the examination of children and adolescents from 5 to 15 years old. The BANC includes multiple domains of functioning: memory, language, attention, executive functions, laterality, orientation and motor function. Each one of these domains of neuropsychological functioning is evaluated by one or more tests.

Description

Purpose: assess neuropsychological, namely neurocognitive functioning.
Type of Instrument: battery of neuropsychological tests.
Administration time: 90-120 minutes.
Age range: 5-15 years (children and adolescents).

Technical information

Standard scores:
Index scores (Memory Index; Language Index, Attention/Executive Function Index) (M=100; SD=15).
Scores by test (M=10; SD=3).
Normative data were based on a large representative sample (N = 1,104), that was stratified by age (5-15 years) (+- 50 boys and 50 girls by age level).
 

Test structure

  • The BANC includes multiple domains of functioning: memory, language, attention, executive functions, laterality, orientation and motor function.
  • The BANC is a comprehensive batery of 15 neuropsychological tests,that enables the examination of important neurocognitive functions: memory, language, attention, executive functions, laterality, orientation and motor function.
